Superman & Lois Solved Its Newest Lex Luthor Problem Before It Even Began
Superman & Lois has created one of the most villainous versions of Lex Luthor ever seen in the DC Universe, and it is a relief to see that another of the antagonist"s plans has already been crushed by the good people of Smallville. With one of the most uniquely evil versions of Lex Luthor yet, Superman & Lois season 4 has seen Luthor be responsible for some truly horrible things. This involved the death of Superman, and the subsequent emotional torture of his family. Fortunately, not everything is working out for Lex.
While Superman has a lot of villains in his past, his best villain is Lex Luthor. Different versions of this foe have appeared in various media, with each putting their own twists on the character. Some of the most iconic Superman villain quotes are spoken by the embittered rival to the Man of Steel, culminating in a character that audiences love to hate. While a new version of the villain is just ahead in the DCU played by Nicholas Hoult, audiences are finally seeing the Superman & Lois iteration suffer some significant losses.
Superman & Lois Solves Lex's Plans To Get The Smallville Gazette Before They Can Even Really Begin Lex's Shell Corporation Scheme Has Been Defeated Close Lex Luthor has attempted to destroy Superman at every turn in the series - however, one of his latest plans was foiled from its inception. In Superman & Lois season 4, episode 7, Lex planned to buy his way into the Smallville Gazette in an attempt to take over and destroy everything that Clark and Lois hold dear. Fortunately, Chrissy Beppo, who Lex was trying to get to sell her shares, looked into the situation, and discovered that Lex was behind it. Hidden behind a shell corporation, Lex"s plans were identified and summarily halted.
This was a relief to audiences, although it did come at a cost - firstly for Chrissy in the seeming disillusion of her dream, and then literally for Clark and Lois when they decided to buy Beppo"s share so that she could still buy a new house for her expanding family. Similarly, while this scheme was cut short, that wasn"t the entire extent of Lex"s machinations in the episode.
Superman & Lois Still Gives Lex Luthor A Big Win Lex's Plan To Reveal Superman's Identity Still Occurred Close Ultimately, Lex"s plans still resulted in Superman"s identity being shared with the entire world, albeit perhaps not in the way he"d initially been expecting. Luthor telling Candice"s father about Superman"s secret identity resulted in a dramatic confrontation between the two in the Smallville diner, which saw Superman reveal his identity in order to protect those around him. This looks like it could count as a big win for Lex Luthor. With Superman now unable to hide, the implications of Lex"s plan will surely shown soon.
Fortunately, Superman has been able to transform this defeat into a moment of liberty for his character. The latest episode of the show examined the tragedies that Clark having to keep his secret identity hidden led to, culminating in him revealing his identity to the world. While Lex"s actions were done with malicious intent, there is significant good that can come out of Clark"s identity becoming public as well.
